For the safety of our patients, families, staff and our communities, Katahdin Valley Health Center has implemented temporary changes to our normal operations to reduce the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and ensure all those that require medical care can receive it.

Our practices are working diligently to screen and treat patients for potential infection. In keeping with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations, we are asking all patients whose symptoms are consistent with COVID-19 to call 1-866-36-5842, option 1 to be evaluated before coming to one of our health centers. Once we have prescreened you by phone, and you are considered not high risk you may be asked to stay home and self-isolate instead of coming in.

What are the symptoms requiring that I call first?
  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Sneezing
  • Sore or Scratchy Throat
  • Stuffy Nose

Other reasons we would like for you to call first include:
  • If you have recently visited a travel restricted country or an area with community spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • If you have had contact with a person who has or is suspected to have Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Are you at higher risk?
Some people may have a higher risk of getting sick from this illness. People in this category are:
  • Patients 60 years old or older
  • People who have serious underlying medical conditions like:
    • Heart Disease
    • Diabetes
    • Lung Disease
  • Those living in a congregate setting (e.g. Long-Term Care Facilities, Group Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Jails, Shelters)

It is important that if you have a fever, cough, or feeling short of breath, you call your primary care provider office immediately. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911.

While at home, we want to be sure you have the medications you need to take care of yourself. If you need a refill of your medications, please remember the KVHC Pharmacy does FREE home deliveries.

If you are planning on making a trip to our Walk-In Care Health Center in Houlton (KVHC Open Access) with these respiratory symptoms, please STOP AND CALL first so that you can properly be screened before entering the facility. By calling ahead we can provide the best care for you.
