Summary:

Katahdin Valley Health Center is now hiring a full time Clinical Document Improvement Specialist for our Patten location. The CDI Specialist serves as the bridge between health information management and clinical staff, providing a vital link for accuracy of documentation and quality patient care. The CDI manages, assesses, and reviews a patient’s medical records to ensure that all the information documented reflects the patient’s severity of illness, clinical treatment, and the accuracy of documentation.

Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years clinical experience. Knowledge of coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), Medicare reimbursement system and coding structures preferred, or willingness to learn. Strong based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills. Ability to work as a team with healthcare professionals with a clinical or coding background to enhance documentation specificity. Proficient computer skills.
