The Veterans Community Care Program is a program to improve Veterans’ access to health care by allowing eligible Veterans to use approved health care providers outside of VA.

You are eligible if you meet one or more of the following requirements:
  • You are told by your local VA medical facility that they will not be able to schedule an appointment for care within 20 days of when you need to be seen for primary care services, or within 28 days for specialty care.
  • Your current residence is more than thirty minutes driving distance from the closest VA medical facility for primary care services, or sixty minutes driving distance from specialty care services.
  • You need a service not available at any VA medical facility.
  • Your VA provider believes it is in your best interest to receive care outside of a VA facility.

How do I find out if I am eligible and make an appointment?
To determine eligibility and make an appointment, call the VA hotline at 1-800-733-8387, or contact your local VA representative.
