Not a KVHC Patient? Not a Problem! Everyone is Welcome!

What is Open Access?
Open Access means that you can walk in to a participating KVHC clinic for non-emergency care without a prior appointment. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from, we will care for everyone, even if you aren’t currently a KVHC patient. Open Access can save you hundreds of dollars compared to the average cost of a visit to the ER. You can go to Open Access for care that you would normally go to your Primary Care provider for – if you have immediate need for care, you should still go to the emergency room.

Go to Open Access For:

  • Earaches
  • High blood pressure
  • Colds, coughs, sore throats
  • Migraines
  • Rising Fever
  • Minor burns or injuries
  • Sudden onset of illness or injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Small abrasions and wounds
  • Dizziness

Go to the Emergency Room For:

  • Chest pains
  • Inability to breathe
  • Severe bleeding or head trauma
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Broken bones
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Sudden loss of or blurred vision
KVHC accepts all patients and insurance types. We also accept MaineCare and uninsured patients. 
All are welcome!

If you have an emergency and we are closed, call 911.
After hours, you may also call 207-538-3700 to reach our ON-CALL provider.

KVHC Holiday Closures

All Katahdin Valley Health Center clinics and pharmacies will be CLOSED on July 4th in observance of Independance Day, with the following exceptions:
 
  • Walk-In Care and the KVHC Pharmacy in Houlton and Dover-Foxcroft will be OPEN from 11am-7pm.
